Applications for author interviews now open
WritingCommunity.ca is now accepting applications for its new author interview program. The interviews will be conducted in February, June, and November each year and will feature authors of books, articles, essays, short stories, and poetry. There is no cost to apply or be interviewed, so it’s a great opportunity to promote yourself and your work as a writer.
All published authors — self or traditionally published — are eligible to apply. Articles, essays, short stories, and poetry must be either published in book form or have been traditionally published with a literary journal, magazine, or newspaper. Preference will be given to Canadian authors and content, especially Northern Ontario authors and content. We will also consider diverse representation and timeliness of the subject matter when making our selections, so if your work reps marginalized readers, has been/will be published close to the time of the interview, or covers a timely subject, this will bolster your chances of being selected.
For now, all interviews will be virtual. In the future, some interviews may be conducted in person if suitable arrangements can be made between WritingCommunity.ca and the interviewee.
Depending on the number of applications we receive, we reserve the right to develop some interviews into panel discussions. Should we opt to do this, all potential participants will be informed and have the opportunity to opt-out and wait for an individual spot to open. We also reserve the right to cancel a planned interview for any reason.
