Northern Ontario Authors

Northern Ontario holds a special place in our hearts. The Founders of WritingCommunity.ca are both from Timmins and have been organizing and hosting literary events in Northern Ontario for nearly a decade, including Indie Author Book Expo North (formerly the Northern Ontario Book Fair).

This, of course, is no easy feat. Northern Ontario is a geographic region covering over 800,000 square kilometers. It is comprised of over 60 cities, towns, villages, unorganized townships, and indigenous communities. With a population of approximately 730,000 people (that’s less than one person per square kilometer), Northern Ontario is a largely untouched wilderness of forests, lakes, rivers and wildflowers, sprinkled with close-knit communities.

We are always looking for ways to help support and celebrate Northern Ontario storytellers. We have a Northern Ontario Writers Facebook group you can join if you currently or previously lived in Northern Ontario. You don’t have to be a published author to join. It’s a great way to get advice if you’re new to writing or publishing.
