David G. Ferguson
Hometown: Owen Sound, Ontario
Homebase: Algoma Mills, Ontario
David G. Ferguson was born in Owen Sound, Ontario. Growing up, he was exposed to a variety of boats, large and small, on inland lakes as well as on the Great Lakes. In his adult life as a conservation officer for the Ontario government, he had the great fortune to spend much of his time working from boats, bushplanes and snowmobiles in the Hudson and James Bay Lowlands, Algoma District and Haliburton County — three very distinct regions of the province. Dave and his family spent summer vacations cruising the waters of the Trent-Severn waterway, Lake Huron, Georgian Bay and the North Channel aboard a 32-foot cabin cruiser and a 37-foot Zeeland yawl (bearing a strong resemblance to the classic vessel in his novel, TOXIC WATERS). During Dave’s experience in natural resources law enforcement, he met all manner of resource users — both good and bad — mostly good. The law breakers he dealt with covered a broad spectrum of characters from polite folks, who’d simply made a mistake, all the way up the scale to black hearted men you didn’t turn your back on. His understanding of the complex range human behavior and his love of nature in its wildest mood swings has inspired him to write his stories. Dave is now enjoying retirement from his “day job”. He lives on the north shore of his beloved Lake Huron, while conjuring up his next stories.
