#canlitpit is making a comeback in 2021
Are you a writer who wants to be traditionally published? A pitch party may be just what you need!
We are excited to announce that #canlitpit, the pitch party for Canadians founded by DigiWriting.com, has found a new home and will be hosted by WritingCommunity.ca in 2021!
We will be reaching out to Canadian agents and editors in the coming weeks to connect and coordinate. We are also developing information and resources to help guide Canadian writers so they can get the most out of the event. Agents, editors, and writers who would like to be able to provide feedback to an upcoming survey and receive other #canlitpit related updates are encouraged to subscribe here.
For now, here’s a little information about #canlitpit and how the event came to be hosted by WritingCommunity.ca.

#canlitpit is a Twitter pitch party just for Canadians. During the #canlitpit event, Canadian writers can pitch one or more completed, polished manuscripts via tweet for agents and editors to peruse. If an agent or editor likes a pitch enough to give it a “heart”, it counts as a requested submission. The writer can then submit the manuscript via that agent or editor’s normal submission channels, but mark it as a requested submission so that it stands out from the other manuscripts in the slush pile. DigiWriting.com founded #canlitpit in 2016. The inaugural event, which took place in July 2016, was the #6 trending topic in Canada that day. In 2017, it became the #3 trending topic. DigiWriting hosted several #canlitpit events from 2016 to 2018, at which time they announced a hiatus. In 2020, we reached out to the execs at Digiwriting.com to inquire about the status of #canlitpit and offer our help. With DigiWriting’s blessing, WritingCommunity.ca adopted the program.
